   Our story so far...

Bitcoin Worms started off as "WormE" short stories i would read my children, but eventually this became a short Children's book, and now a PFP collection secured on the God of all chains, Bitcoin!

My idea started off simple, how can i let people inscribe my art but at a low cost, as originally our collection was made of PNGs, these files were very large over 30kb, 15 even when reduced. 

So i started learning programming to find a way to put these guys on chain at the lowest possible fee, they became 870b some 640b!, this was a roaring success!

 I as a rookie programmer made this site and then opened the door to every degen on twitter for several hours. After an allotted time i called this to an end, i was slightly overwhelmed gathering all the images during indexing and ensuring each wasn't a duplication, few were thankfully the code was solid enough.

This was stage 1 in our Worms journey, i wanted to test how we could do this as a self inscribe project, with an average fee of $2 in a moderate mempool, i feel this was very successful, we in stage one have 686 worms inscribed open and fairly by our now holders. Which we have 88 currently.

As you can imagine i used up a lot of sats in the testing for the file and generator to work correctly, and within the structuring. To explain, your Bitcoin Worm is an .SVG image file, its made of code, in that code is layering. This layering points to each layer of your worm, its "Background", its "body", "eyes" and "mouth" this then builds your image from On-Chain base layers that are 400x400 PNG files. 

As we have several of each layer, i will let you imagine how much i billed up doing these :D

But i enjoyed every minute. I left all my code open-Sourced and have showed a few how to use the same method to make their own collections, and welcome anyone asking questions to do their own :)

I enjoyed the challenge of making smth creative on Bitcoin and am here to stay, thanks for reading our little story so far.

  Our Roadmap to Wormville

Phase One 

Season 1 of Bitcoin Worms was our launch and successful entry into the PFP ring. This was done as a fair launch Self-Inscribe, where in we hoped to teach as well as give a fun mint. Users had to navigate to our site, and use our "BitcoinWorm Generator" then download the .SVG export and inscribe themselves. 

Our target range was 1000 worms, we called it a tad early sadly at 686, this was mostly due to me being the Artist and the project lead, its just one person here. I hastened to call it earlier as i was a tad over stretched and over estimated what was in the mempool.

But we see this as a successful start, with lessons learned for the future.

Some of our OG holders got some additional custom worms that i made making our total just over 700 now, we had planned being a 1000 piece collection, this may be added if the community wants this, but ONLY for existing holders!

Our Rune was fairly launched with a very small pre-mine to give 10,000 to each holder.
Holding our RUNES or OG Worms makes you a community member and welcomed.

For future WL and projects upcoming, OG worms will ALWAYS have a WL and those with a MINIMUM of the token too.
